Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a club provided at Fauquier High School (FHS) that is advised by economics teacher, Anne Frenette. This is Frenette’s second year advising FBLA, and she has loved every minute of it. “I just really want to help students grow and gain practical business experience that they won’t learn in the classroom, but will learn through their experience working with FBLA,” Frenette stated.
FBLA is a business-centered club where students can learn more about the business world and develop crucial skills needed to succeed in the future. Cynthia Salazar, a junior at FHS is very invested in FBLA and would recommend joining. “I definitely would [join]. If you’re interested in business, you can see what a field is like or a more specific one. You’ll learn some new skills from it,” Salazar expressed. Students will learn a lot from joining this club, such as how to properly present themselves in a professional manner, along with gaining many skills like public speaking and responsibility.
Sebastian Luna, another junior at FHS, enjoys the monthly meetings the club provides. He states, “Our meetings are really fun. We have donuts and we have games and learn about business.” During those meetings, students also learn about upcoming competitions. Frenette believes that the best way to prepare for competitions is to “always plan ahead. I’ll sit down one on one with students all depending on what their topic is… then give my input based on business experience that I have.”
This club is very educational and is a great way to enhance many useful skills needed to help students succeed in the future. FBLA is also a good organization to have on your record, because it looks good when applying for college and scholarships. Students looking for a very hands-on and useful club, FBLA is the right one for them.
