With the winter track season finished and the spring track season just beginning, the track team is getting ready to add another season of excellence to the Track and Field Team’s history. Coaches and athletes have returned from the big meet, and senior Brooklyn Bartholomew came back, finishing another amazing winter track season. Bartholomew originally joined the cross-country team during her freshman year. “I started doing cross country and kind of just expected to do track next,” she noted. Because Bartholomew participates in sprinting events, she did not join cross country again because it is a long-distance sport. After that, she stayed on the track team for all her current and past seasons.
Winter track had its state meet on March 1, 2025, at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. The team came back with another impressive season under their belt. “I think my biggest accomplishment on the team was when my four-by-one relay won states last year,” said Bartholomew. The events that Bartholomew competes in are sprints. “My favorite event to compete in the winter is the 300, and in spring, it’s the 100,” continued Bartholomew.
There are many options for what event one would be able to participate in. For those who do not enjoy running as much, field events are a great way to still be involved in the team. “I’ve always wanted to try high jump, but I’m injury prone, so that has limited me,” Bartholomew stated. The team is very supportive about whatever event you choose to participate in. The coaches try to push and support players so they become the best version of themselves. Bartholomew says, “I really enjoy the community. There are a lot of great people on the track and field team.” Quentin Jones, the head coach of the Track and Field Team, says that she is one of the people who make the community enjoyable. “She is a real asset to the team. She is a dedicated runner and is hardworking,” says Jones. Bartholomew is an amazing, talented athlete and is a vital part of the track team with her swiftness in sprints.
